Rio de Janeiro, March 31 (IANS) Brazilian club Corinthians' administration was caught lying to its faithful fans. The club told the fans that it was paying striker Adriano roughly $210,000 per month. In reality, the club was giving over $280,000 per month.
Directors at the football club did not want fans to think that they were over-paying the player. However, now fans want answers as to why they did not tell the truth and are curious to know if the club holds any other secrets, Xinhua reported.
The news became public after Corinthians terminated the former Brazilian striker's contract. Since Corinthians claimed that they would not pay Adriano the remaining time on his contract, equating to roughly $1 million, the striker decided to sue the club for double the amount.
With the legal battle beginning, detailed information has been divulged, including Adriano's salary.
