Cong, TMC rift worsen

Kolkata, Sat, 07 Jan 2012 NI Wire

The tie between Indian National Congress and Trinamool Congress is likely to be weakening after a series of incidents going on since last fortnight. Strengthening this speculation, TMC Chief Mamta Banerjee today alleged Congress in the centre to collaborate with Communist Party of India (Marxists) (CPI(M)) and working against TMC in the West Bengal.

Lashing out TMC?s ally in the centre, Mamta today accused Congress to malign her party image in the congress. "If Congress feels they can go with CPI-M, they can do it. (The) Door is open for them," she accused.

"If Congress works with CPI-M, they will not get Trinamool Congress. TC can go it alone. I fought for Singur and Nandigram on my own. I don't need them," she added.

Criticizing the centre over the issue of Lokpal Bill, Mamta said, "They forcibly tried to include the Lokayukta into the Lokpal. They (Cong) had not paid heed to our words. Voting was not done on it."

Attacking over the issue of FDI in retail sector and frequent hiking the petrol price, Mamta said, 'Congress was doing all these thing because we opposed them over the issue of FDI, frequent price hiking on patrol and forcible including the Lokayukta in the Lokpal bill.'

'Congress is also afraid because TMC has decided to fight the election in Uttar Pradesh and Manipur,' she added.

According to political experts, the crack between the two was emerged when West Bengal government decided to rename 'Indira Bhawan' with revolutionary Bengal poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. Congress had severely opposed this act and alleged TMC to not to govern properly in the state.

State's Congress leaders have accused Mamta Banarjee's government stating that there was a lack of conception of the government. They don't know how to run and how to rule and what system to be applied.

Over the issue of holding the hand of CPI (M), Congress leaders said, "It is not the Congress but the TMC...not once but many times, holding hands with the Left Front. She is the B-team of the CPM, not the Congress."
