Sushma Swaraj hopeful BJP will open account in Kerala

Kozhikode , Tue, 05 Apr 2011 ANI

Kozhikode, Apr 5 (ANI): Ahead of April 13 Kerala polls, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, today expressed hope that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will open account in the state following the assembly elections.

Talking to reporters here, she also said that BJP is aiming to work as an effective opposition in Kerala.

She also alleged that the CPIM led Left Democratic Front (LDF), Congress led United Democratic Front (UDF) are not protecting the interests of Kerala.

On Monday, releasing party's election manifesto for Kerala, BJP central spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy announced a slew of welfare schemes covering various sections and projected the line of development pursued by the Narendra Modi Government in Gujarat as a role model.

Rudy said that his party would provide land and home to the homeless and would lay emphasis on educational development in the state if voted to power in the forthcoming elections.

He also said that his party would establish institutions of higher learning in Kerala.

Rudy also said that there would be a separate ministry for women development in the state and land of the tribals would be restored to them and there would be a welfare corporation for the economically weaker sections of the society.

He said the party would give priority to develop a rail link to the famed Sabarimala temple, visited by millions of devotees from all parts of the country and abroad. Other major infrastructure projects like Kochi Metro would be vigorously pursued.

The polling for 140 assembly constituencies in Kerala will be held on April 13. (ANI)
