Amritsar, Jan 16 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in-charge of Punjab affairs Shanta Kumar has accused the Congress party for inflation and corruption by adopting incoherent economic policies.
"See, it is the Central government which is 100 percent responsible for the price rise and the main reasons for the price rise are the dishonesty and the faulty economic policies of the government," Kumar told the media here on Sunday.
"I was the Food Minister in the government led by Atal ji (Atal Bihari Vajpayee) and we did not raise the prices of the basic necessities of life and if somebody asks me that how did I control the inflation then I would speak about two things, we were running the government with honesty but today the central government is run on the of indications of big investors across India and the world and they are running it with dishonesty," said Kumar.
He further said that the BJP would be highlighting important issues such as the black money that has been stashed abroad, inflation, and corruption that is taking a toll on the common man of this country.
"In this election, BJP would raise the issue of price rise, corruption and also we would make people know about the splendid work that has been done by the state government and its alliance in the state. We would fight the election on such issues; we would visit the people and would try to form our government again," he added.
Punjab is one of five states due to hold elections this year. As per the schedule planned by Election Commission, the state assembly poll in Punjab would be held on January 30.
In Punjab, the main battle is expected to be between the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)- Bharatiya Janata Party alliance and the Congress party. Sukhbir Singh Badal, the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and son of chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, heads the SAD. (ANI)
