Melbourne, Apr 6 (ANI): One of Australia's largest energy broking firms has been forced to sack co-founder and CEO Ben Polis after he posted racist and sexist comments on his personal Facebook page against Aborigines, Asians and women, including Prime Minister Julia Gillard.
The firm lost some of its biggest clients as a result of the media storm, with one major energy company terminating its relationship with EnergyWatch and another suspending its contract, the Herald Sun reports.
Professional sporting teams also tore up sponsorship deals with EnergyWatch, with AFL club Melbourne Demons terminating its two million dollar a year agreement.
Polis had posted racist remarks about Liam Jurrah, an Aborigine and one of the Demons' star players. The club called Polis' comments "disgraceful and abhorrent."
Soccer club Melbourne Victory and rugby union side Melbourne Rebels also dumped EnergyWatch as a sponsor.
Gillard described Polis' comments as "nasty" and "disappointing", The Courier Mail reports. (ANI)
