BJP rejects govt's proposal of holding decision on FDI in retail

Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), the major opposition party in Lok Sabha, today reportedly rejected the proposal of Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee of holding back the decision on FDI in retail until final consensus was not made after discussing with all parties over this issue.

According to sources, Bhartiya Janta Party is still firm on its previous state to 'complete rollback the decision of FDI in retail' not on the proposal of holding back.

Senior Party leader Yashwant Sinha responding over FM's initiative to break the logjam over the issue in the parliament said that the government was trying to build consensus now. It should have consulted allies and opposition before taking the decision and presenting in the parliament.

'The Government should call an all-party meeting to settle the FDI in retail issue and must take opposition into confidence on all important policy issues whether it seeks a vote or not in Parliament', said Sinha.

The Party is firm on its previous statement of not allowing Parliament unless the government rollback the decision of FDI in retail.

Earlier, media reports said that FM Pranab Mukherjee today made a phone call to leader of opposition Sushama Swaraj and CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechuri to convey his message of holding the government's decision on FDI in retail until it (govt) does not take other parties in confidence.
