Jalandhar, Nov 6 (ANI): As a symbolic protest against the recent fuel price hike yoga guru Baba Ramdev rode a bicycle along with his admirers at Jalandhar.
The yoga guru said that the common man was struggling to cope up with the rising fuel prices and in the future people would eventually abandon their vehicles and walk to their destinations.
Earlier, the Yoga Guru had said that the Congress had betrayed the country for around 64 years with the promise to eliminate poverty from the nation but had failed to live up to its promises and indeed the number of poor has increased to 840 million from 50 million.
Ramdev had also stated that if the UPA government fails to rein-in corruption, then he would launch a campaign against it in all the five states - Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Gujarat and Manipur - slated for assembly elections in 2012.
Over the past few months, the central government had come under intense public scrutiny over its perceived hesitancy in dealing with corruption,.
The Transparency International rated India at 87 on its list of the world's most corrupt countries, in a 2010 survey. (ANI)
