New Delhi, Nov. 6 (ANI): Stating that he is convinced that there is a threat to the life of Sanjeev Bhatt, Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Sunday made an appeal to the Central Government to provide full security to the suspended Gujarat cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officer.
"I am seriously concerned about the security of Mr. Sanjeev Bhatt. The way things have happened, the first encounters that have taken place in Gujarat. Yesterday only, a very important witness in the Godhra riots was brutally stabbed in Ahmedabad when he was going to meet his lawyer. We appeal to the Government of India to provide full security to Sanjeev Bhatt because I am absolutely convinced there is a serious threat to the life of Sanjeev Bhatt.hatt, who was granted bail by a sessions court in Ahmedabad on October 17, has written a letter to SIT chief S K Raghavan expressing worries about the threat to his life.
Bhatt, who had accused Narendra Modi of misusing the State machinery during the post-Godhra riots, has also demanded security for his family.
Bhatt was arrested September 30 on a complaint filed by constable K.D. Pant, who worked as a subordinate with Bhatt in the state Intelligence Bureau.
According to Pant's complaint, Bhatt had forced him to file an affidavit in which Modi had been named.
Bhatt has been locked in a public confrontation with Modi after he had filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court accusing the Chief Minister of complicity in the 2002 riots. (ANI)
