Agartala, Sept.30 (ANI): To popularize science and technology in Tripura, the state government recently organized a two-day science congress in Agartala for the first time.
The event saw the participation of state government officials, hundreds of scholars and students.
In all, there were seven technical sessions on agriculture and life science, health sciences, ecology and environment, physical science, engineering for development, earth system sciences and science and technology education.
There was also a panel discussion and session for children's during the congress.
The event was organized under the theme "Tripura We Dream: Science and Technology Interventions" at the Nazrul Kalakshetra under the aegis of State Council for Science and Technology.
The state's Science and Technology Minister Joy Gobinda Debroy inaugurated the congress in the presence of eminent scientist Professor Siddhartha Roy, Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Assembly Bhanulal Saha and state Chief Secretary S.K. Panda.
Chief Minister Manik Sarkar could not attend the event as he was away in Bangladesh on an official visit.
Eminent scientist Samir K.Brahmachari also could not attend as flight to Agartala was delayed.
Debroy listed the steps taken by the state government to popularize science and technology.
Besides eminent scholars from across the country, about 800 invitees, including students participated in the opening session of the Congress.
State Agriculture Minister Aghore Debbarma addressed the valedictory session of the congress in the Sukanta Academy Auditorium. (ANI)
