Rajkot, Aug 3 (ANI): Gujarat Congress president Arjun Modhwadia has criticised the Narendra Modi led state government for not appointing a state Ombudsman.
On the sidelines of a meeting of party leaders here on Tuesday, Modhwadia said that unlike the earlier governments, Modi has delayed the appointment of the state Ombudsman during his leadership for the last seven years.
"There is law regarding Lokayukta (state Ombudsman) in Gujarat since 1986. And under this law, till now all governments have done the appointment of the Lokayukta. This time, for last seven years, Narendra Modi has not appointed Lokayukta. Whenever the Governor sends the list of names (for the post), he still does not notify them," said Modhwadia.
Modhwadia further said that there is rampant corruption in Modi government and demanded that the post be immediately filled to investigate into corruption cases against the government.
"The corruption that is rampant in Narendra Modi government, it should be investigated and for conducting the investigation the Lokayukta should be appointed," he added. (ANI)
