New Delhi, Apr. 13 (ANI): Slovakia's Minister for Economy Juraj Miskov told businessmen and entrepreneurs of India and Slovakia here on Wednesday that there was a need for strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations between the two countries.
Miskov said that Slovak economy has since recovered from negative economic growth due to recent global economic recession with a positive growth of four percent in 2010, which is highest among the European Union countries.
With a high percentage of graduate work force, low inflation and favorable government policies, several leading MNCs, particularly in automotive, electronic and ICT industries, have invested in Slovakia, he said.
Terming Slovakia as the Gateway to Europe and an automotive superpower, he invited Indian businessmen and entrepreneurs to strengthen bilateral trade and investment for mutually rewarding economic cooperation.
Marian Tomasik, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic, while speaking at the meeting said that India and Slovakia enjoy an excellent relationship and India is a country of great business interest for them and called for bilateral investment from here.
The Ambassador, during his address also called for cooperation in defence equipment between the two countries.
V K Mathur, Chairman and Managing Director, Inapex Private Limited, while welcoming the Slovak business delegation, which was led by the Slovak Minister of Economy, said that India's economy was mainly driven by domestic saving and investment and for the next 15-20 years, gap in supply and demand was likely to continue which offered excellent opportunities for foreign investment. He invited the Slovak entrepreneurs to be a partner in the growing Indian market.
The session included a CII presentation on the status of Indian economy and opportunities for foreign direct investment in India. Ms Andrea Gulov , Foreign Direct Investment Section Director, Sario also gave a detailed presentation on business and investment opportunities in Slovakia.
Around fourty businessmen representatives of India and Slovakia attended the meeting. (ANI)
