Tokyo, Jan.23 (ANI): With the introduction of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a free-trade agreement currently being negotiated by nine countries, Japan is paying more attention towards agriculture.
Fujitsu, a Japanese multinational information technology equipment and services company, has introduced new services of its Akisai Food and Agriculture Cloud services
The service uses big data to optimize the cultivation schedules according to each type of product, region, and brand.
This service will contribute to stable production volumes and higher product quality, a capability that would normally depend on the expert judgment of farmers.
Hiroyuki Sakai, head of product marketing and business development, Fujitsu said this system is used by 160 companies and bodies globally.
In Japan, the farmers are successfully utilizing this service. It has helped to increase the quantity of produce from 30 to 60 per cent and has reduced working time by 23 per cent.
Yasuaki Fukunaga, the president at Fujitsu explains that the farmers are young and have no experience and knowledge. But, by utilizing IT technology they have registered big success in agriculture.
AEON, a retail corporate group has been managing 14 farms by utilizing new information technology and intends to supply the produce to domestic and overseas market.
Tomihiro Yamazaki, a senior director at Fujitsu said Akisai will help to maintain cultivation calendar for farmer.
"Akisai" is already introduced in USA, Europe, Russia and ASEAN countries. It will contribute to improve farming globally. (ANI)
