Diabetes is one of the handfuls of diseases that truly became nightmare of modern healthcare in the recent times. In discussing here on the symptoms of diabetes we must have an understanding of the clinical factors leading to this disease which is considered as a grave modern epidemic with stupendous implications on the overall health condition of twenty first century human beings. Diabetes is mainly of two types, respectively as type 1 and type 2. The symptoms of Diabetes though are grossly similar in both types of Diabetes there are significant differences as well in their manifestation. While the type 1 diabetes is the outcome of a medical condition that has not much to do with lifestyle, type 2 diabetes is mainly the outcome of several sedentary lifestyle factors or medical conditions pertaining to such lifestyle. Let us have a glimpse at the definition and types of Diabetes before seeing the symptoms.

Diabetes and Types of Diabetes

The symptoms of diabetes correspond to the clinical condition that leads to a diabetic condition and the types of Diabetes that differ from each other. Diabetes in gross definition is a disease in which the sugar level in the blood gets higher than normal due to absence or non working of blood glucose regulating hormone called insulin. Type 1 Diabetes is a medical condition that mostly occurs in children and adolescent people in which the pancreas does not produce insulin at all or produces very little compared to the general necessity of the body. The type 2 diabetes is a medical condition that mostly occurs in adult population in which either the insulin produced by the pancreas is not enough to regulate the blood glucose level or the cells of the body cannot utilize the insulin to consume glucose becoming insulin resistant. Irrespective of the differences both types of Diabetes produce signs and symptoms that correspond to heightened level of blood glucose and these are generally perceived as symptoms of diabetes.

Symptoms of Diabetes

There are lots of behavioral and physical symptoms that can be indicative of Diabetes when viewed coherently. Here below some of the most common and frequent symptoms of diabetes that may occur in different types of Diabetes.

  1. Frequent urination or persistent urge to urinate is the most common symptom of diabetes across various cases or types.
  2. Excessive or unusual thirst that persists throughout the day can be indicative of diabetes.
  3. Extreme hunger or frequent urge for food is a common symptom of diabetes in both types.
  4. Extreme fatigue or feeling frequently tired of body movement and any type of physical work if persists for considerable time can be indicative of a diabetic condition.
  5. Losing weight in unusually faster pace is one of the most prominent symptoms of diabetes.

Apart from the symptoms mentioned above which are common to all types of Diabetes there are some other symptoms that are specific to type 2 Diabetes.

  1. Blurring of vision or inability to see clearly is a common symptom associated with type 2 Diabetes.
  2. Extreme vulnerability to infection or frequent infection is a symptom of type 2 Diabetes.
  3. Any bruises or wounds that are taking unusually long time to heal can be indicative of type 2 Diabetes.

Having mentioned all the symptoms of diabetes, we must say that any one of these symptoms taken alone should not readily be considered as a sign of the disorder before consulting the physician and undergoing medical test.
