Havana, Oct 31 (ANI): Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari met Cuban President Raul Castro during his two-day state visit to the country.
During the meeting with Castro here yesterday, the two countries inked four agreements to strengthen bilateral ties.
Ansari arrived in Cuba on Tuesday to hold talks with that country's leadership on bilateral and multilateral issues.
The two countries signed an agreement on cooperation in broadcasting between India's government run Prasar Bharti and Cuban Radio and Television Institute.
Ansari, who held delegation level talks with Cuban leaders, also visited the Biotechnology Centre in Cuba and appreciated the "pioneering work" done by it and talked about the possibilities for collaboration between the two countries in the field.
Ansari also inaugurated a three-day long cultural festival of India in Havana.
In a first-ever visit by a high level leader from India to Cuba, Ansari also held a meeting with the first Vice-President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel.
India and Cuba enjoy historical and cordial relations as founding members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
The bilateral relations are characterised by active cooperation in the fields of energy, biotechnology and sports. OVL (ONGC Videsh Ltd) has an active presence in the Cuban EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone). (ANI)
