Srinagar, Sep 7 (ANI): The chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Yasin Malik, on Friday said India and Pakistan should address the Kashmir issue on priority basis during the bilateral talks between the foreign ministers of the two sides.
"What we have experienced that Indian and Pakistani diplomats, who recently met in Iran, did not address the Kashmir issue. That's why, today, our agenda is that if India and Pakistan want to resolve the Kashmir issue then they should focus on this subject, and at simultaneously they can also continue their talks to resolve the other pending issues they have," said Malik.
"Kashmir issue is the problem of south Asia due to which they have fought three wars and this nation has been suffering with the contentious issue of Kashmir for the last 66 years in which more than one lakh people have been killed. It is the problem of every Kashmiri. This is one of the most contentious issues in the world. Here, our demand is justified and the meeting (between foreign ministers of India and Pakistan) should focus on Kashmir issue," he added.
External Affairs Minister S. M Krishna is scheduled to hold formal talks with Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Saturday.
Foreign Secretaries of India and Pakistan met earlier in the day to fine tune the agenda for Saturday's ministerial bilateral talks.
Foreign Secretaries Ranjan Mathai and Jalil Abbas Jilani took stock of the progress made in bilateral ties and also charted the course to be taken for the next round of talks between the two nuclear-armed neighbours. (ANI)
