Gwalior, May 3 (ANI): Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev has expressed disappointment over the political fraternity's reactions, including Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, to his comment that several corrupt politicians and people with criminal backgrounds occupy seats in parliament.

"I am disappointed by the way Lok Sabha speaker reacted after listening to only half of my statement. Had she heard my entire statement then may be her reaction would have been different stating that 'Babaji should respect the Parliament and lawmakers,' Baba Ramdev told media

" I have immense respect for sincere lawmakers. The corrupt ones who are seated in the parliament need to be removed. The constitutional structure needs to be resurrected. I don't think I have said anything wrong," he added.

Earlier on Tuesday, Baba Ramdev had said that parliament consists of goons, corrupt, murderers, illiterates and urged people to up the ante to protect the sanctity of the temple of democracy.

"We have made people who are demons in disguise to sit in parliament but they do not deserve to hold these prestigious positions and be in power. But the system is still functioning and we have also accepted these 543 people will run the country," he said.

His controversial remarks triggered anger among several lawmakers.

Baba Ramdev further said that he was ready to face any legal battle regarding his remark on parliamentarians.

"We will reply to any notice that is sent to us. I stand by my statement and not only me but all sincere people of the country agree with me. Just because we respect good people doesn't mean they can forcefully respect the corrupt lawmakers," said Ramdev. He further said that there were no ideological differences with veteran anti graft activist Anna Hazare and his team.

"Annaji is my spiritual friend, why will I try to destroy his movement. We help in construction of our friend's homes and don't try to destroy them," said Ramdev. (ANI)
