Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), April 26 (Xinhua-ANI): Asia's first Legoland is set to open for business on Sept. 15 in Malaysia's southern state of Johor, bringing a new tourist attraction to the country.

The 30.8-hectare theme park, located in Iskandar Malaysia, was 75 percent completed, said Siegfried Boerst, Legoland Malaysia General Manager.

He was quoted as saying by local media on Thursday that the contractors began work on theming the park last month and would begin installing the 50 million Lego bricks and models next month.

The Asia's first Legoland was scheduled to open by the end of this year, but Boerst said the theme park would be opened ahead of schedule by a couple of months, thanks to "the hardwork of all our contractors."

The official park's single-day tickets will go on sale online later this month with a special introductory offer of 96 ringgit ( 31.4 U.S. dollars) for adults and 70 ringgit (22.9 U.S. dollars) for kids, and the operator will hold promotion on its website.

Boerst said over 35,000 annual passes had been sold and 60 percent of the buyers were Malaysians. The annual passes, priced at 195 ringgit (63.8 U.S. dollars) per adult and 150 ringgit (49 U. S. dollars) per child, are valid until the end of 2013.

The park, with seven special themes namely Lego kingdom, imagination, land of adventure, lego technic, the beginning, lego city and miniland, is especially designed for families with children from two to 12 years of old. It will feature more than 40 interactive rides, shows and attractions when it opens.

The operators eyes attracting 1 million visitors in the first year of the park's operation.

Legoland Malaysia is the sixth Legoland theme park in the world, after those in Denmark, Britain, Germany and Florida and California in the United States. (Xinhua-ANI)
