London, Mar 22 (ANI): TATA-owned luxury car manufacturer Jaguar plans to build cars in China for the first time, according to a report.
Tata Motors Ltd. (TTM) unit Jaguar Land Rover in partnership with a local firm, Chery, will produce cars only for China, The Sun reports.
According to the report, at least 50,000 vehicles a year will roll out of a new factory in two years' time.
Models will include the top-selling Range Rover Evoque, 3,000 of which have already sold in China in the first two months of this year.
"We believe JLR and Chery can jointly realise the potential of these iconic brands in the world's largest car market," the report quoted JLR boss Dr Ralf Speth, as saying.
Jaguar sales grew in China by 124 per cent to 6,000 in 2011, while Land Rover sales were up 53 per cent to 36,034. (ANI)
