Kochi, Mar 7 (ANI): With the anti-Congress mood sober throughout the country following the verdict of assembly polls in the five states, Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday forecast that the results show that a new coalition will be forming government at the Centre by October or there will be a mid-term poll.
"The result that came out yesterday will mean, it is going to be very hard for the budget to be passed, the next President of India will be from the Opposition and not from the Congress, and therefore by September-October there will be either a new coalition forming a government in the Centre or there will be a mid-term poll," said Swamy.
"In either case, the country will soon see by the end of this year a new government and hopefully by then we will be able to bring all the culprits of the 2G spectrum scam to court plus the CWG, which are the biggest scams in the history of India," he added.
Swamy alleged that the trail in the 2G scam leads straight to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
The elections in Uttar Pradesh turned out to be a big disappointment for the party, where it finished fourth despite Rahul Gandhi himself leading the Congress from the front. he Congress failed to win power in Punjab, lost power in Goa and was running for a photo finish with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttarakhand. A win in Manipur was the only silver lining in an otherwise gloomy result for it.
The Congress party's drubbing is also a blow to the government of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, reducing his scope to re-launch reforms and reverse a slowdown in economic growth. (ANI)
