Lucknow, Mar 6 (ANI): An extremely confident Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi on Tuesday said that her party would manage to get close to approximately 100 assembly seats in the state.
"I am not nervous. I am only anxious. We are a very stable national party. The people's verdict is final. We are still very hopeful that we will not do as badly as you have been showing," said Joshi.
"I think we should be close to a 100 that's what our estimates are. But finally the verdict of the electorate is supreme. We have worked very hard on the grassroots," she added.
Joshi said she would take responsibility for the poll debacle in Uttar Pradesh.
She further said the organization and the various candidates would take the responsibility, and added that Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi was the star campaigner for the party in Uttar Pradesh.
As per the early trends of the Uttar Pradesh assembly results, Mulayam Singh Yadav's Samajwadi Party (SP) is leading in 48 seats followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 25 seats. The Congress is leading in just nine seats. (ANI)
