Samajwadi Party takes clear lead in UP, set to form govt.(Lead: SP)

Lucknow, Mar 6 (ANI): The Samajwadi Party (SP) is moving towards a simple majority in Uttar Pradesh and is likely to form the next government in the state.

 

As per the latest trends, SP is leading in close to 200 seats. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will remain second despite a loss of over 100 seats in comparison to the 206 it got in 2007.

 

The Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party are fighting for third and fourth place.

 

In Punjab, the SAD-BJP alliance is set to retain power as it was leading in 71 out of the total 117 assembly constituencies. The Congress is leading in 46 seats while Independents were leading in two constituencies.

 

In Uttarakhand, a neck-and-neck battle between the BJP and Congress is on for the 70-member legislative assembly.

 

As per the latest trend in Uttarakhand, the Congress is leading in 33 seats, while the BJP is ahead in 30 seats.

 

The BJP is leading in 22 seats in Goa, while the Congress is ahead in 9 seats.

 

In Manipur, the Congress is on its way to a hat-trick with chief minister Ibobi Singh likely to return to power. The ruling party in Manipur has so far bagged 17 seats and is leading in another 13 others in the 60-member Assembly.

 

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) won three seats while the LJP bagged one seat. The Naga Peoples Front (NPF) was leading in five seats. (ANI)
