Kanpur/New Delhi, Mar 4 (ANI): Congress leader and Union Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal on Sunday rejected an exit-poll forecast and said that the Samajwadi Party would be the best bet to form the next government in Uttar Pradesh.
"There is no significance of exit polls. Media is forced to do exit polls. The result is important," Jaiswal told media here.
Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh has also trashed the exit polls after the final round of assembly elections in five states, including the polls taking place in Uttar Pradesh.
"I am saying that for me the exit polls are like trash, they were like trash earlier and today is no different. If I may ask how many seats did the exit polls allocate us the last time?" Singh told media here.
Singh further reiterated that the Congress party would gain massive victory in the Uttar Pradesh polls.
"I have said this before and would like to remain firm on my stand that astonishing results are awaiting the Congress party," Singh added
The Uttar Pradesh polls are being viewed as an opportunity for major political parties to re-establish their foothold in the country's fifth largest and most populous state.
The first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh phases of polling occurred on February 8, 11, 15, 19, 23, 28 respectively and March 3.
The poll results will broadly indicate trends for the 2014 general elections. (ANI)
