New Delhi, Feb 28 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday once again asked the ruling Congress Party to consider Rahul Gandhi for the Prime Minister's post, and dared the young leader to show whether he has the capability to deal with the country's rising problems in the country.
Reacting to comments made by Congress leader and Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma that members of the Gandhi family were not for the chief minister's post, but for the post of prime minister, BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad: "I would like to recall Benibabu (Beni Prasad Verma) that I had given a modest proposal to the Congress 25 days ago in Lucknow that Rahul Gandhi should be made the Prime Minister. Two years and three months are left for the 2014 elections, then he (Rahul Gandhi) should show whether he has the capability to deal with the rising problems in the country and solve them efficiently."
"I once repeat my proposal for Bebibabu's intelligence. Probably, the people in the Congress will be delighted with Beni Prasad Verma's fawning proposal," he added.
Beni Prasad Verma had earlier described Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh as too old to handle his job in 2014, thereby paving the way for Rahul Gandhi to become the Prime Minister.
"Manmohan Singh is already 80 years old .... by 2014 (next Lok Sabha election) he will be 82... there is a limit to which anyone can handle the pressures of being a PM ... so Rahul Gandhi will automatically become the prime minister," he had said. (ANI)
