Congress terms Kejriwal's comments against MPs an insult to nation

New Delhi, Sun, 26 Feb 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): With Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal calling Members of Parliament 'robbers, murderers and rapists', Congress Party on Sunday urged the media not to broadcast such statements, and said such intemperate comments not only insult the democracy and parliament, but also insult the people of the country."I will say that we should not comment on people, who make such statements. The media should not broadcast such statements. The country's democracy weakens through such statements. If there will be no respect for the Parliament in the country then how will the democracy survive. Those elected, either they are good or bad, they are elected by the people of the country," said Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi.

"The Parliament has a majority of those people, who are willing to do anything for the country. They reach there through hard work. Such statements not only insult the democracy and parliament, but also insult the people of the country. Parliament is because of the people of the country. The people have elected them. If you make such statements against them (Parliamentarians) this means you are insulting the people of the country," he added.

Alvi further accused Team Anna members of trying to achieve cheap publicity through their comments.

"The media should not broadcast such statements. They (Team Anna) make such statements so that they get the publicity," he said.

Addressing a gathering in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida city on Saturday, Kejriwal said: "All types of elements have entered Parliament, including 'robbers, murderers and rapists'. Parliament has become the biggest problem of the country. It is now essential to change its character."

Terming the ongoing probe against corrupt politicians to be a mere drama, Kejriwal said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has become a tool in the hands of the ruling UPA Government.

"Suresh Kalmadi, A. Raja and Kanimozhi are sent to jail for just a few days and come out very quickly," he said. (ANI)
