Washington, Feb 25 (ANI): A Chinese tech company that is seeking to block sales of Apple's computer tablets in the country, has now asked a court in California to stop the US firm from using iPad trademarks.
Proview, which claims it owns the rights to iPad trademark, filed a lawsuit against Apple's use of the trademark in mainland China at the Santa Clara Superior Court on February17, Alice Wang a spokeswoman has revealed.
Apple made no immediate comment on the California lawsuit.
A Shanghai court recently rejected an appeal from the Chinese tech firm based in Guangdong province to ban sales of Apple's widely popular iPad in the city.
According to The Telegraph, the two tech companies are feuding over whether Proview sold the mainland Chinese rights to the iPad trademark to Apple in a 2009 deal.
Proview has claimed that the sale of the iPad China trademark to a company representing Apple by its Taiwanese affiliate in 2009 was invalid.
Apple, however, contends that Proview included the mainland Chinese trademark in the sale and says it violated that contract by failing to transfer the trademark rights to Apple. (ANI)
