Indian parliamentarians begin visit to Pakistan

Wagah, Jan.16 (ANI): A delegation of Indian parliamentarians, headed by senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yashwant Sinha, crossed into Pakistan through the Wagah - Attari land border on Monday.

 

The 15 parliamentarians with their families are visitng Pakistan for four days at the invitation of the Pakistan Government.

 

The goodwill visit is aimed at restoring peace between the two countries, as also to look for ways to boost bilateral trade.

 

"What ever is happening in Pakistan is the internal affairs of Pakistan and we are not in favor of commenting on it," Sinha said.

 

He added that the parliamentary delegation would be discussing a wide range of issues with their Pakistani counterparts of mutual interest to the two countries.

 

The other prominent members of the delegation are Mani Shankar Aiyar (Congress), Shanawaz Hussain (BJP), Derek O'Brien (TMC), Supriya Sule (NCP) and D Raja (CPI). By Ravinder Singh Robin (ANI)
