Security forces conduct search and combing operations in poll-bound Manipur

Imphal, Jan 16 (ANI): Security forces are conducting extensive search and combing operations at various places in Imphal to ensure peaceful assembly elections later this month.

 

The security forces have detained 36 persons and handed them over to the local police for verification.

 

"In connection with assembly elections in Manipur, which is to take place on January 28, we have conducted frisking, checking and combing operations at different areas," said S. Ibomcha Singh, senior security personnel.

 

Elections to the 60-member Manipur state assembly will be held on January 28.

 

Incumbent Congress is the only national political party having impact in the state politics dominated by Manipur People's Party (MPP) and other smaller regional groups. (ANI)
