Manmohan Singh sees end-March inflation at 5.5 percent

Burari (New Delhi), Dec 20 (ANI): The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, on Monday said that the rate of inflation would be curbed by early next year to settle at 5.5 percent.

 

Addressing the Congress plenary session at Burari in northwest Delhi, Dr. Singh said: "We made all efforts to reduce inflation and will continue these. By March next year, inflation is expected to settle at 5.5 percent."

 

With an aim to ensure food security for each section of the society, he said, "My government is determined to bring out National Food Security Act in the next session."

 

He said the Congress-led government had lived up to its promise of making India fare well in times of recession.

 

"We had promised people that we will fight difficulties during recessionary times, we will not let anything affect our economy, and we fulfilled our promise to a great extent." (ANI)
