Former Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra accuses PMO of ignoring MCD's advice on CWG

Panaji , Sun, 22 Aug 2010 ANI

Panaji, Aug. 22 (ANI): Former Delhi Mayor and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Arti Mehra on Sunday blamed the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) of ignoring the Municipal Corporation of Delhi's suggestion to have single window clearance system for Common Wealth Games (CWG) infrastructure which delayed the entire projects.

Arti Mehra was the Mayor of Municipal Corporation of Delhi from 2007 to 2009.

She alleged that the work to create infrastructure commenced late and even after that the files for various clearances were pending in central government departments.

Addressing a news conference here today, Mehra said: "I had asked Prime Minister to have single window system to clear CWG related files. There was only one meeting over the matter and thereafter there were no meetings."

"To curb the delay we had suggested single window clearance system," she added.

Pointing out the major faults in all the 19 stadiums, Mehra said: "Water is dripping everywhere. The roads are caving in. CWG were pride of India, which is now being compromised."

"The situation is dangerous," she quipped adding that the amount of corruption in setting up the infrastructure was huge.

She has taken charge as BJP's Goa desk incharge and was down in the coastal state to interact with the leaders. (ANI)
