The trip of Mussoorie can't be assumed complete without visiting the Kempty Falls, which is one of the most striking waterfalls in Uttarakhand. Situated on the Mussoorie-Chakratabarkote Road, Kempty Falls is the glorious spot for the visitors who have interest in watching natural place with some adventures. Kempty Falls is situated from 15 km from Mussoorie city, which passes from the cluster of high mountains ranges and with beautiful greenery view. It is 45 km from Dehradun, Capital of Uttarakhand. However there is not any evident exactly about the naming of the Falls as Kempty, yet it has been believed that it got its name from the 'Camp-tea' which was organize by British officials at evening in the area. It is understood that the 'Camp tea' was later known as Kempty and now Kempty Falls.
Situated at the altitude of about 4500 feet above the sea level, Kempty Falls are surrounded by high mountains cliffs with the greenery of the natural beauty. Due to its altitude and most striking force nature, Kempty Falls attracts maximum number of tourist from all part of the country. The Falls was developed as a picnic spot by the British officer John Mekinan in around 1835. Now it has turned into a major picnic spot in Mussoorie for the visitors who came here frequently to take a bath under the striking force of the water.

The special feature about the Kempty Falls is a string of water running throughout the year in every season. However it make more dangerous in rainy season, which occupy in the month of July and August. According to sources, the sting of water originates from a village named Banglow ki Kandi, which moves round the northwest direction and somersault drown from the astounding height of about 4500 ft. The situation looks like water is playing with the rocks and dancing with music when it comes to the ground from such a height.
The waterfall Falls can be visited any time around the year, as there is not any restrictions for the tour however it must be avoided during monsoon season i.e. July and August, as it may be dangerous to visit.
Best time to visit to Kempty Falls of Mussoorie during the summer seasons in the moths of March to June as the weather is very lovely for some outdoor activities.
