Mussoorie: 'Queen of the Hills'


Musoorie hill station: A famous tourism destinations of Uttarakhand, which is commonly known as the 'Queen of the hills', is situated in the foothills of Garhwali range of Himalayas in Uttarakhand.
It is assume that the name Mussoorie was derived from a shrub 'Mansoor' which is indigenous in the area, which later changed into Mussoorie.

With an average altitude of 1,180 meter (6,170 ft), it has glorious green hills and full of flora and fauna, which fascinate tourist for its complete natural beauty. There are many tourist attractions in Mussoorie, which enchants tourists, which is the main source of revenue of the people living here. Lal Tibba is the highest point in Musoorrie with a height of over 2,290 meter (7,510 ft).

Gun Hill is the second highest point of Mussoorie with an average height of 2024 meter. It is the major attractions for the tourist which provided a natural and eye catching view of the city. Tourist visits here with the ropeway, which has made easy to access the second highest point in just some minutes.

Kempty falls is one of the most beautiful sites for Mussoorie trip, which has an average height of 4500 ft. Surrounded by high mountain ranges and with splendid view; it is one of the major picnic spots for the visitors. The music of water falling form height of about 4500 ft and the greenery of the site is the enough to attract the tourist.

Mussoorie Lake, Camel Po e Lake Mist, Bhatta falls, Nag Devta temple etc are another attractions here.

Connectivity: Mussoorie is well connected to the Delhi, which is 290 km in North. It is also well connected with the major cities of the country with road. Dehradun is the closest rail station for Mussoorie, which is just 35 km away, and taxis and bus services are easily and frequently available from here.

When to visit: The climate of Mussoorie is normally cool and pleasant through the year. As the temperature of Mussoorie in generally low and so the best time to visit here is from mid-March to mid-November. During winter season (October to February) it is freezing weather and snow falls.

But summer season (March to June) are a pleasant season here as temperature remains average and it will be best time to visit here.
