The eminent politician and Indian Freedom fighter Sarojini Naidu with the sobriquet ?the nightingale of India? was the maiden lady to enter into these fields and bring a revolution in Indian freedom movement. Sarojini Naidu was born of a well to do Bengali family in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh with education in Madras University, Kings College London and Girton College Cambridge. The lady was highly educated at the time and endorsed the advancement of women and raised voice against all the superstitions, prejudices and bind beliefs. From the very early life of her Sarojini Naidu was a revolutionary with reformist ideas on life and philosophy. She was against the British rule in India thus she joined in the Independence struggle of India in the call of Mahatma Gandhi and dedicated herself for the emancipation of the nation from foreign rule. By dint of her dedicated labor for the cause of the country and her motherland, Sarojini Naidu?s attempt to free the country got succeeded in 1947 and India got status of an independent nation. She is the first lady governor of any of the states of India with the highest political power to administer the state. She is also an internationally and nationally recognized and acclaimed writer in India with a large production of beautiful lyrics and other writings. For being a prolific and sublime writer Sarojini Naidu has got recognition and awards from various sources and finally the sobriquet ?the Nightingale of India? was conferred upon him.
