Another eminent politician of the state of West Bengal Indian political scenario is this veteran leader Buddhadeb Bhattacharya hails from the left front Communist party of India (Marxist) serving as the chief minister of the state of West Bengal from 2000 to till the date. This extraordinary political thinker was born of a good sober family in 1944 and brought up with all sorts of knowledge in all the aspects of humanity. Mr. Bhattacharya first made his maiden attempt in politics following the footsteps of Jyoti Basu, another veteran in politics and won the assembly poll to state legislative assembly in 1977. This time onward Bhattacharya has been climbing the steps of the political ladder successfully. Bhattacharya has such an extreme love for his own mother tongue that he has taken each possible step to keep it safe and rich. Many more welfare steps he has been taken for the welfare of his citizens and to spread the influence of his political party as well as bring for it a great majority. Due to his popularity in the state Basu was largely popularized with a great reverence from the people of all sects and classes. The road of his being the chief minister of West Bengal was constructed in the year 2000 when Jyoti Basu stepped down, as he was the only pertinent candidate for the post. After his becoming the CM, Bhattacharya brought all sorts of reformations in the state with many welfare projects for the denizens. Bhattacharya?s government came under heavy pressure and criticism in the Nandigram protest over land allotments for the industrial projects. Over all these criticisms Bhattacharya?s attempts on welfare projects of the state are laudable.
