The only political party in the great India with its aims and objectives for the Dalits and downtrodden is Bahujan Samaj Party. Emanating it as a political alliance being ideological for the uplift of Dalit socialism and the poorer sections, Bahujan Samaj Party gains eminence among the lower class people of India. The founder leader of BSP is the Samaritan personality Kansi Ram in 1984 that being cheered and inspired by Mayawati?s personality handed over the burden to her shoulders. Thus Mayawati is the present chairperson of Bahujan Samaj Party. This political party was formed mainly to represent and reflect the Bahujans or the deprived, marginalized, minorities and a large number of lower class people and untouchables of India. The party also aims to highlight their plights, weaknesses and political, social, economic as well as academic problems bringing them to the forefront of development and socialism. Bahujan Samaj Party has its basis in Uttar Pradesh, largest populated state in India where it has formed its own government from May 2007 under the chief ministership of Mayawati. Under the guidance of her a lot of developmental works are in full swing. As she herself is from Dalit community, Mayawati has vowed to do everything for the enhancement in the position of the Dalits. The party has 17 and 6 members in Lok sbha and Rajya sabha respectively.

The BJP-MGP coalition defeated Congress in Goa by a large margin, the coalition made victory on 24 seats out of 40. Manohar Parrikar, who led the BJP's campaign and cornered congress for the illegal mining is all set to be the next chief minister.
Riding on the waves of anti-incumbency congress won 32 seats out of 70 seats and became single largest party but it could not achieve the magic figure of 36 that is required for the majority. The incumbent BJP is just behind with 31 seats.
Unaffected by anti-incumbency BJP-SAD alliance came to power in Punjab. With this historic victory it has become the first coalition government to return to power defying anti-incumbency.
The results of polls in state are not encouraging for the congress. Except state of Manipur where it has managed to remain in power, it seems that this national party is fading its charm.
