Bhubaneshwar, July 14 (ANI): It could be the ultimate as far as a skydiver's marriage goes. Shisir Mishra literally swooped down 7,000 feet from the sky to get his bride's hand in marriage.
Mishra, an Indian Air Force officer and an accomplished skydiver, performed the daring feet, enthralling his relatives and guests who had gathered to witness the wedding here.
He jumped a free fall from a helicopter and landed safely as his parachute opened a few hundred feet from a sports ground near the wedding venue.
Mishra said he was confident of making it though some of his relatives were apprehensive.
"I decided to do something that was different. Everybody was apprehensive. But, nobody opposed me, as every one knew that I have been doing it for the past 10-12 years. It was due to every body's blessings that I was able to perform this," said Mishra.
Mishra's supportive bride was all praise for the daring feat.
"Marriage is the most memorable moment of everybody's life. In order to make it even more memorable, he wanted to perform this," said Shweta Prusty.
Mishra has 2200 free fall jumps to his credit. With more than ten years of experience in skydiving Mishra had represented India at the US Open National Skydiving in 2007 Championship.
In 2007, he also participated in the fourth Military World Games at Hyderabad. By Sarada Lahangir (ANI)
