Salem (Tamil Nadu), Nov 16 (IANS) A man with several criminal cases against him was killed in a gunfight with the police in Tamil Nadu Sunday, officials said.
'After being cornered by us, Gopi attacked us using country-made bombs and other deadly weapons. He was killed by our bullets when we opened fire in self-defence,' a police officer told reporters.
The gunfight took place in a village 15 km from this textile city. Salem is some 300 km southwest of state capital Chennai.
