Srinagar, Nov 14 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir today received the season's first snowfall.
Trees, buildings, roads, were all covered in white as tiny flakes fell over the city and enveloped it in snow.
Residents welcomed the snowfall, which broke the dry spell that the region has been grappling with for the past few months.
"For past two-three months the weather was dry in the region, as result of which the land owners, the apple growers, all had faced losses. There was a rise in chest diseases as well. We are grateful to god that by his grace, we have received timely snowfall this time," said Fayaz, a resident.
Tourists who are in the city, were thrilled to see the snowfall, some of them experiencing it for the first time.
"For the first time I'm seeing snowfall, had only watched in on television till now. I'm very happy today," said Ramesh, a tourist.
The upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir have been receiving snowfall since Thursday with the state's famous ski resort Gulmarg, covered with almost two-feet of snow.
Moderate snowfall was also reported from tourist resorts of Sonamarg and Pahalgam. (ANI)
