Yahoo unveils new search engine tool 'Glue'

Yahoo India, the subsidiary of Yahoo!, the world’s No.1 site in traffic ranking, has introduced a versatile search engine, ‘Yahoo Glue’ in testing form in India that gives the classic search results with visual information from best site across the web.


This is for the first time that any giant web company has introduced its newborn product in India ahead of the world. This new product of Yahoo India has been developed in Bangalore, the laboratory of Yahoo in India. This move of Yahoo came just a day after its one of the top contender Google Inc, which introduced the Indian version of YouTube on May 07. YouTube is the most popular video content sharing site in India.

‘Yahoo Glue is different in terms of other classic search engines’ as Yahoo India official claims that Yahoo Glue Beta, displays the most relevant website with images, video, articles from Wikipedia and many more all in one page that prevent users to wasting their timings and energy to search the worthless thing that have not much relevance from the topic. “User spends more time learning in and less time in searching’ claims Yahoo India.

For searching any topic, user has to open Yahoo India by typing http://www.yahoo.in or http://in.yahoo.com on the address bar. The home page of Yahoo India will open and you can find any thing by typing the text on the search engine address bar.

For instance, if you type “Manmohan Singh” (the Prime Minister of India), you will see, the search result on the left side of the page, about Manmohan Singh, from Wikipedia on the right side of the page, below the right side, you will see related question-answers being asked in Yahoo answer tool, best sort out images from the web and relevant videos from YouTube.

Moreover, Yahoo Glue Beta also search category and sectionalise terms including health, sports, entertainment, travel, technology, finance and many more. For example, a search of ‘obesity’ displays the result from classic search, groups: obesity, news: obesity, answers: obesity and Google blog search: obesity.

Speaking on the launching occasion, Gopal Krishna, head (Audience) of Yahoo! India, said, "Searching on Glue Pages Beta will result in an experience that promises more than just Web links. Users will receive more relevant, visually-appealing search results from across the Web in one topical page."

While, Sandeep Shrivastava, director (Search) of Yahoo! India, said, “Yahoo India will also explore various other ways to supplement algorithmically generated Glue Pages with topical pages built and maintained by local subject matter experts from the Internet community.”
