New Delhi, Oct 24 (IANS) The Delhi High court Friday granted bail to an advocate who was arrested for allegedly extorting money from the son of a murder accused, while a police official was granted bail by a city court in the same case.
Justice Aruna Suresh granted bail to prosecutor Ravinder Chadha.
Meanwhile, a city court granted bail to Delhi Police sub-inspector Mukesh on personal and surety bonds of Rs.50,000 each.
Inspector K.G. Tyagi, sub inspector Mukesh and assistant sub inspector Rajbir of Crime Branch were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of the Delhi government along with prosecutor Ravinder Chadha Oct 17 after a sting operation was conducted by murder accused Gopal Krishan Aggarwal's son Abhinav, a businessman in Chandni Chowk.
'In the entire transcript (of sting operation), there is nothing to show that applicant had ever demanded any bribe amount from complainant or even he was in knowledge that bribe had been paid to co-accused in pursuance of any conspiracy,' said special Judge A.S. Yadav.
Aggarwal is a co-accused along with former MCD councillor Ashok Jain and others in the murder of Vijay Singh Yadav Sep 29, 2007.
He had conducted a sting operation against the accused before lodging a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
