Karachi, Jan 9(ANI): A 45-year-old man has been arrested for sending at least two dozen blasphemous text messages to unknown mobile numbers in the hope of recovering a pending 45,000 rupee bill for printing blasphemous material.
Disclosing his motive for sending messages, Mehmoodabad- based Zafar said a woman who identified herself as Yamna had asked him to print blasphemous material, but she refused to pay the 45,000 rupee bill and threatened to have him killed.
Zafar said he decided to send the messages because he knew that his arrest in the case would subsequently lead to the woman's arrest, The Express Tribune reports.
Zafar has been charged under Sections 295-C, 298-A and 298 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which prescribe the death penalty or life imprisonment for the offender.
The case came to light after a Surjani- based former businessman Bashir Leghari filed a First Information Report in the police station after receiving blasphemous messages.
There are, however, several unanswered questions in the case like whether Zafar was aware of the blasphemous content before he printed it, where exactly his business is located and how many copies of the material he had printed. (ANI)
