Amritsar, Jan.9 (ANI): The Shiromani Akali Dal, the BJP and the Christian Front's joint candidate from Majitha, Sardar Bikram Singh Majithia, filed his nomination papers for state assembly elections here on Monday after exhibiting a massive show of strength in the constituency.
He paid homage at the Gurdwara Ber Sahib at Mattewal in the presence of his supporters.
On the way to Amritsar, his supporters and the general public were standing on both sides of the road waving to him.
Majithia was overwhelmed by the huge response and said that he would always remain committed to resolving the public problems.
He said the SAD-BJP combine is fighting the elections on the issue of development.
He described receiving the support of top family members of veteran political leader Parkash Singh Majithia, including his son Simmarjit Singh Majithia, his sons Jagteshwar Singh Majithia and Gurteshwar Singh Majithia, as a shot in the arm.
"We will give the opposition Congress, struggling for its existence in the area, a befitting reply in the elections,' said Majithia.
Majithia said he was demanding votes for promotion of development in his constituency.
He also informed his supporters of the number of welfare works, including new roads, schools, colleges, hospitals and dispensaries, bus stands, sports clubs and youth clubs in Majitha with which he was involved with. (ANI)
