Farrukhabad, Jan 9 (ANI): Union Law and Justice Minister Salman Khurshid on Monday accused the Mayawati led-government of forgery in national development schemes.
Khurshid, who was campaigning for the Congress Party in his Lok Sabha constituency of Farrukhabad ahead of the state assembly polls, said various political parties had alleged that the Congress Party was making money by setting up big factories and companies, but in Mayawati's case, he said she had made money from amounts sanctioned for developmental projects in the state.
"We are being alleged of taking money from the millions of factories and companies that have been set up across the country; we are being alleged of making money from the large markets that have been set up around the world," he said.
"People who are levelling those allegations should come forward and prove the allegation, and then we will answer them. But the state government made money sanctioned for the mid-day meal of the poor children, made money from the national scheme that provided 100 rupees to a poor man for his living, made money sanctioned for constructing roads and civic amenities," he added.
Uttar Pradesh will elect a new 403-member state assembly in March, and the poll results are expected to broadly indicate trends for 2014 general elections. (ANI)
