Dharamshala, Dec 19 (ANI): Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama today held the first of his three-day session of Buddhist spiritual teachings to a large gathering of followers from around the world in Dharamsala.
The Nobel Peace Prize laureate imparted teachings in some of the most sacred verses of Tibetan Buddhism.
He is also expected to confer a Chakrasamvara (demchok) initiation at the request of a group of Russian Buddhists.
Devotees and monks from European countries like Ukraine and Poland as well as from Russia have come to take part in the three-day congregation.
"We need to hear more about teachings of Dalai Lama. We are happy to be here and to see such man like Dalai Lama and we wan to know more information about his teachings," said Nina, a Buddhist devotee from Russia.
The spiritual congregation will conclude on Wednesday.
The Dalai Lama has for years said he seeks autonomy and religious freedom in Tibet, not independence. (ANI)
