Govt. plans to connect 2,50,000 villages to NKN: Sibal

The Indian government is planning to connect over 2,50,000 villages under National Knowledge Network (NKN) within next two to three years. For this optical fibre network - the wire through which data runs digitally with the speed of 180,000 to 200,000 km/s, - is laying down under the ground at mass level, said Union Telecom and Human Resource Minister Kapil Sibal today in a seminar at Jhang Bhawan, Rani Bagh, New Delhi.

This seminar was organized by congress activists and localities of Shakoor Basti assembly constituency to honour him and to aware him about the problems of localities. Kabil Sibal is the representative Member of Parliament (M.P.) of Chandni Chowk under which Shakoor Basti assembly constituency falls.

Addressing to the present congress activists, Kapil said that he was highly obliged to the activists, as he could achieve this landmark on the behalf of their activists' hard work.

But, he also added that he was unable to sort out all the local problems what have them specified to him.

"All these problems can be solved through a proper channel, and I can only raise my voice to the concerned offices to sort out speedily," Sibal said.

Appreciated his own work, he stressed that his ministry has done excellent work in the field of education and telecom. The newly launched 'ultra cheap' tablet "Akash" is getting immense positive feedbacks across the nation and the world.

"I went abroad recently, and there was a photo of -Akash- on the banner, and it was written that it was the initiative of India", said Kapil.

Explaining his ministry's plan, Kapil said, 'we are trying to update the students and villagers to the modern technologies and for this we will connect over 2,50,000 villages through NKN to allow them to access the information what do they want?'

Speaking over the problems of localities, Union Minister said, "Kindly elect the appropriate person in the next election from the congress party."

'And I urge you to present me the true men for getting the election tickets who can really work for you, not just your fave,' he added.
