Lucknow, Dec 14 (ANI): Police officials in Lucknow had to resort to baton charge to scatter violent protesters as hundreds of protesters gathered to stop the demolition of the wall of a mosque ordered by the High Court.
The dispute began when owners of the hotel adjacent to the mosque disputed the mosque's wall for some time and recently won the case to bring it down.
On learning the information, some protesters gathered. Soon after some protestors started pelting stones at the police and also blocked the traffic on the road the police then baton charged to disperse the crowd.
"The conflict was due to a wall of a mosque on which the high court and the civil court have given the orders. Complying with those orders, police force reached the scene in the afternoon. Some dispute started and led to a large gathering. Some anti-social elements started pelting stones on police officials and in reply the baton charge was done," said Anil Sagar, district magistrate.
