Tehran, Dec 13 (ANI): Iran has claimed that it had begun exploiting a captured US surveillance drone equipped with the latest radar evading technology, and is planning to 'reverse engineer' the aircraft.
Parviz Sorouri, an MP on the Iran parliament's foreign policy committee, said that experts were in the final stages of recovering data from the surveillance drone.
"Our next action will be to reverse-engineer the aircraft," The Telegraph quoted Sorouri, as saying.
"In the near future, we will be able to mass produce it. Iranian engineers will soon build an aircraft superior to the American (drone) using reverse engineering," he added.
Some Iranian officials have hinted that it could allow American rivals such as China the opportunity to acquire the technology.
The aircraft, identified as RQ-170 Sentinel drone, is one of the most advanced used by the US military and is equipped with technology also used on the US Airforce fleet of advanced fighter jets, the F-22 and F-35. (ANI)
