Washington, Dec 6 (ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has said his country is committed to establishing peace in Afghanistan despite boycotting the Bonn conference in Germany over the recent NATO attack on Mohmand Agency.
"We hope, we really want to have good relations with the US based on mutual respect and clearly defined parameters. I think that is doable. I think that it won't take long," The Express Tribune quoted Gilani, as saying.
Gilani, however, said the new ties being negotiated with the US would ensure that the two countries "respected each other's red lines" regarding territorial sovereignty and the rules of engagement along the border.
"We want to work with the United States. We really want to enhance our strategic partnership," though this was conditional he pointed out, "But at the same time we want to revisit (our cooperation) with US, NATO and ISAF, and that is the reason, we have referred this matter to the Parliamentary Committee on National Security," he added.
Pakistan decided to boycott the Bonn Conference over last week's NATO attack that killed around 24 soldiers.
Despite the attempt of the US, Pakistan remained firm on their decision, maintaining that attack against its sovereignty will not be tolerated at any cost. (ANI)
