Jakarta, Dec 5(ANI): Two moderate earthquakes hit West Irian Region and Banda Sea in Indonesia on December 5.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department said the first earthquake, measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale, occurred in West Irian Region at 2.53 a.m. (local time), about 884 kilometre north west of Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea and 2,687 kilometre south east of Kunak, Malaysia.
According to The Star, the second earthquake occurred at 5.45 a.m. (local time), measuring 5.4 on the scale in Banda Sea, 96 kilometre southwest of Ambon and 1,408 kilometre southeast of Tawau, Malaysia. (ANI)
