Singapore, Nov 19(ANI): The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, today extended an invitation to Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to visit India to take note of the manner in which Singapore has contributed to India's progress in recent years.
In a speech at lunch hosted by Loong here, Dr. Singh said: "We in India regard you as an ardent advocate and supporter of our strong partnership. It was during your visit to India in 2005 that we signed a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement between India and Singapore. That agreement has led to a qualitative upgradation of our trade and investment relations with Singapore."
"I look forward to your visit to India next year. This will give you an opportunity to see for yourself the developments that have taken place in India in the last several years, and the manner in which Singapore has contributed to India's progress," he added.
Dr. Singh, who had arrived in Singapore late Saturday night, will also meet Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam, former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew and Goh Chok Tong, Senior Minister of Singapore.n the evening, the Prime Minister will unveil the Nehru Marker at the Asian Civilization Museum before departing back for India.
