Tehran, Nov 20 (ANI): A recent mysterious explosion at an Iran's Revolutionary Guard base was caused due to the failure of an experimental intercontinental ballistic missile test, the brother of the missile program's top commander who was killed in the incident has said.
The commander, General Hassan Tehrani Moqadam, died on November 12, along with 20 other members of the elite corps, at a site 25 miles southwest of Tehran.
Moqadam's brother, Mohammad Tehrani Moqadam, himself a Guard officer, said that his brother had died while conducting a final test on a missile.
"The project was in the final testing phase. It was related to an intercontinental ballistic missile. It was a completely high-tech, confidential process," the Washington Post quoted Moqadam, as saying.
According to the report, Mohammad denied having any knowledge of details of Iran's missile program.
He, however, said that the project was "secret" and "a promise to the nation in protecting the country." (ANI)
